How the Allentown School District will use the new Da Vinci center to transform learning

The Allentown School District is embarking on an exciting journey to transform education through a groundbreaking partnership with the new Da Vinci Science Center. Starting in the 2024-25 school year, Central Elementary will become the Central Elementary STREAM Academy, integrating Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts, and Math into its curriculum. This innovative collaboration will provide students with real-world experiences, hands-on learning, and access to cutting-edge exhibits.

MRC is thrilled to help participate in the new Da Vinci Science Center at PPL Pavilion in downtown Allentown. We are especially proud that MRC played a role in the Manufacturing Wall Display at the Center and its funding. This exhibit highlights the importance of manufacturing and its history in the Lehigh Valley. The center also pays homage to the region’s manufacturing heritage with the “Science in the Making” display, featuring a life-size Mack Truck.

Through this six-year contract, students from kindergarten to fifth grade will have regular visits to the Da Vinci Science Center, benefiting from the museum’s expertise and resources. High school students will also gain from paid internships, connecting them with local companies for practical job experiences in the STREAM fields. This partnership exemplifies the district’s strategy of leveraging community resources to create authentic learning experiences.
