Situation
Since 1909, family-owned Brey-Krause Manufacturing Company has produced commercial and industrial washroom accessories. All the company’s products are made at their 68,000 ft2 facility in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania
Like so many others in 2020, Brey-Krause Manufacturing Company, a century-old manufacturer of commercial and industrial washroom accessories, sought to mitigate the impact of COVID-19 on their operations. Although the company was identified as essential and allowed to remain open all year, they faced rapidly shifting regulations, requirements, and other nuances of doing business during a pandemic
Solution
Brey-Krause turned to MRC as a primary point of contact. Through various COVID Response Strategy Workshops—focusing at various times on OSHA requirements, loan and grant program availability, response strategies, cybersecurity for defense contractors, sales and marketing best practices, and others—they were able to successfully navigate a tumultuous year.
“Things were changing on a daily basis,” says Vykie Whipple, the company’s Owner and CFO. “It was extremely difficult to get reliable information. Between the sheer number of resources out there and the sometimes-conflicting stories, it was a confusing time. We had to stay open and keep our employees safe, and MRC made that possible.”
Whipple says MRC’s expert-led workshops delivered clear guidance on everything from the legalities and personnel issues to HIPAA concerns, sales and marketing in light of the new normal, and business-specific response efforts.
She adds that the Leadership Roundtable in particular, (conducted virtually), gave participants a chance to share best practices with other CEOs/CFOs, learning from and discussing strategies with others facing comparable situations.
On top of the COVID-related stress, Whipple says Brey-Krause experienced a ransomware attack. Her response? “MRC was my first phone call.”
