Casey delivers $396M to reduce carbon emissions for Pa. manufacturers
U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) has announced that Pennsylvania will receive $396 million in competitive grant funding from the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) to aid manufacturers in transitioning to clean manufacturing. This funding, part of the Environmental Protection Agency’s Climate Pollution Reduction Grant (CPRG) program, aims to create jobs, benefit disadvantaged communities, and support Pennsylvania’s industrial sector in producing in-demand goods for both American and global markets.
The grant will fund the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection’s Reducing Industrial Sector Emissions in Pennsylvania (RISE PA) initiative, which focuses on projects that reduce carbon emissions and enhance community health, safety, and economic stability. Projects eligible for funding include low-emission steel production and other industrial decarbonization efforts. This initiative is expected to reduce over 9 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent by 2050 and significantly boost Pennsylvania’s economy..
